About the Artist
Cynthia Dorsey is an oil painter based in Massachusetts. She originally trained as an artist at Wesleyan University where she received a BA in studio art, and then chose to pursue a PhD in psychology. Her work explores light, color and emotion in natural landscape settings and still lifes. She uses layered glazes, textures and soft color palettes with a sensitivity to subtle value shifts to convey the beauty and power of nature and of natural or found elements in still life paintings. Her work has been exhibited at recent juried fine arts fairs and shows.

•"Engine 6 Taking a Break" selected by curator of Fitchburg Art Museum along with 9 others from 137 pieces at ArtsWorcester's Kindred show (March 20 - May 3, 2026) to be exhibited summer 2026 at Fitchburg Art Museum gallery following the Worcester show.
